All of our staff receive comprehensive training to ensure they have the knowledge and skills to provide high quality, person centred care. All staff complete the "Skills for Care" Care Certificate which complies with the Care Quality Commissions Fundamental Standards of Quality and Safety. As well as The Health and Social Care Act 2008. We are passionate about career development and maximise opportunities for all of our staff to learn and develop
Britannia Homecare is committed to providing on-going training and development programmes to ensure employees are skilled and competent to provide care to service users. One of our key focuses is the redevelopment of our training programme and focusing on specialising staff.
New employee's joining Britannia Homecare not only needs to learn about their own tasks and roles but also need support in gaining confidence and fitting into the organisation. All new employees regardless of background and experience must undertake Britannia Homecare's induction programme and all mandatory training courses. The induction period runs over 4 days to teach staff all the mandatory courses required to begin their role.
Prior to working alone with people, a new member will gain knowledge and experience by working alongside senior staff members to teach our agreed ways of working. This shadowing period includes observing experienced staff working in different caring and support situations. This will allow our new staff to watch, listen and learn and put into practice some of the skills they have learned already.
This will be followed by being supervised working until deemed confident and competent to carry out care within Britannia Homecare's agreed ways of working. This process is not limited and based upon each staff member individual progress in this process.
To ensure our staff continues to develop in their care worker role, we recognise on-going training is extremely valuable to both the care workers in their career development and to Britannia Homecare in maintaining the standards and excellence of care we provide to our clients we are continuing to learn and redevelop our training sessions to deliver more specialist content to our staff.
